Vancouver Honeymoon Ideas: Most Romantic Places in Vancouver, BC
Now that you’ve got a good idea of the best Vancouver BC honeymoon hotels, let’s talk about the best way to enjoy romance in Vancouver. These are the top things to do in Vancouver for couples!
1. Stroll Around Stanley Park
Visiting this large park is one of the best things to do on a Vancouver honeymoon. For starters, you can spend the majority of your day just strolling around Stanley Park, especially if you want to walk the whole Sea Wall.
You can also rent a bike and cycle along the Sea Wall as well. Either way, you’ll want to make some stops at places like the stunning Stanley Park Rose Garden, Totem Poles, Brockton Point Lighthouse, Prospect Point Lookout, Siwash Rock, and perhaps hike a little to Beaver Lake.
It is easy to feel like you’ve escaped the big city and are in the wilderness in many parts of the park. And if you’re visiting in the summertime, you can enjoy lounging by the beach! If you’re feeling a bit peckish and thirsty, you’ll also like the brewery, called Stanley Park Brewing Company.
2. Shop on Granville Island
Granville Island is a great place to go shopping for food and souvenirs during your Vancouver honeymoon. Not only is it home to the Granville Island Public Market, but there are shops all over the island to stop in for local art, crafts, books, and more!
It is easy to spend several hours exploring this charming island, and when you’re hungry, definitely make a stop at the Granville Island Public Market for delicious food from around the world! A popular stand is A La Mode with its salmon or clam chowder pies.
And outside is a delicious bakery called A Bread Affair selling the best puffy cheese pillow pastries!
3. Explore Gastown
Gastown is another great place to check out for shopping and to see the Gastown Steamclock. This is a steam clock that shoots steam every ¼ hour and every hour the clock will toot from each whistle.
It is neat to watch and then to wander around the neighborhood stopping in shops and perhaps a place for a bite to eat or drink.
4. Enjoy a Food or Drinks Tour of Vancouver
This foodie city is perfect for taking a food tour during your honeymoon in Vancouver. Enjoy dining on the flavors of Vancouver during a food tour like this Gastown food tour, Granville Island Food Tour, or even a guided food and history tour.
And if you want to have drinks instead, there is also a great craft brewery tour or perhaps a street art and craft coffee tour.
As a city well-known for its craft beer, coffee, and cuisine, you can’t go wrong with a culinary and beverage tour around the city!
5. Head to the Spa During Your Vancouver Honeymoon
There are tons of spas around Vancouver, including in many of the hotels that I’ve listed above. So if you are searching for fantastic couple’s massages or you want to partake in hydrotherapy, there is something for everyone!
Some great spas in Vancouver include the Willow Stream Spa at the Fairmont Pacific Rim, CHI at the Shangri-La Vancouver, Miraj Hammam Spa, Xylia Spa Vancouver, and the Sanatio Spa Vancouver.
6. Explore VanDusen Botanical Garden
Wander around the lush VanDusen Botanical Garden together during your honeymoon in Vancouver. This 55-acre garden in the middle of Vancouver has over 7,500 plant species. And if you visit during the spring and summer months, you’ll be sure to spot stunning flowers!
You can also spot local wildlife, walk in the Elizabethan hedge maze, or have a lovely lunch here!
7. Visit Grouse Mountain
For those who want to get out of downtown and more into nature, you’re going to love visiting Grouse Mountain. This year-round destination has so much to offer including the Super Skyride gondola, the Eye of the Wind, the wildlife refuge, and ziplines.
In the winter, there are also opportunities to go skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, ice skating, and more! The remainder of the year is perfect for things like enjoying the outdoors via the chairlifts, paragliding, and even the chance to hike the Grouse Grind- also known as “Mother Nature’s Stairmaster” thanks to its steep elevation.
8. Explore the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park
Another fun thing to do outside of Vancouver is to explore Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. Here you can stand over the Capilano River on the 230-foot high suspension bridge, wander along the suspension bridges on the Treetops Adventure, enjoy the views from the Cliffwalk, and perhaps spot the local flora and fauna!
9. Go on a Whale Watching Excursion
Speaking of wildlife, if you’re in Vancouver, you’re in a fantastic place to go whale watching! Head to Granville Island to catch a boat and go for a morning or afternoon whale-watching tour.
On the tour, you can spot animals like humpback whales, seals, sea lions, and even orcas if you’re lucky! It is a great way to spend a morning or afternoon to get outside of downtown Vancouver and enjoy the beauty of the sea and the surrounding mountains!
10. Explore Victoria and Butchart Gardens on Vancouver Island
Head to Vancouver Island for a day to explore the charming city of Victoria.
You can enjoy the beautiful architecture of the city and visit places like Craigdarroch Castle and Beacon Hill Park. But a huge attraction to Victoria has to be the chance to visit Butchart Gardens.
Marvel at the stunning flowers during the spring and summer months, and wander along the ponds and fountains during your time here.
You can even take a tour of Victoria and Butchart Gardens as a day trip from Vancouver!
11. Perfect Vancouver Honeymoon Day Trip: Whistler
If you want to explore more of BC, you can head north up to Whistler to enjoy some hiking in the summer, skiing in the winter, and the ample bars, restaurants, and museums. Plus, you can partake in more spas here including the epic Spa Scandinave with their thermal outdoor pools with beautiful views.
On the way to Whistler, you can also enjoy stops at Shannon Falls Park as well as the Sea to Sky Gondola. And if you don’t have a car, why not book a tour to see Shannon Falls Park, the Sea to Sky Gondola, and Whistler?

This lovely restaurant serves up Belgian-style cuisine complete with sustainable seafood, a lengthy wine list, a beer list with ample Belgian beers, and a fun atmosphere.
3. Le Crocodile
This upscale French restaurant is serving up delicious steaks, fresh seafood, and even some fois gras. For a charming upscale restaurant serving French food, this is where to go.
4. Japadog
Not every meal during your honeymoon in Vancouver has to be fancy. Sometimes you want to enjoy some local street food. Enter Japadog. This multi-location Japanese hotdog establishment can be found as a food truck or even a few quick-service restaurants.
You’ll love their fun hotdog combinations including the Yakisoba dog, Spicy Cheese Terimayo, and more! Pair it with some takoyaki and seaweed/salt fries for a perfect combination.
5. Little Bird Dim Sum + Craft Beer
Ever wanted a combination of dim sum and craft beer? Well, you do now. This place is serving up some incredible Chinese dim sum including sticky rice, potstickers, dumplings, and more! Pair it with local craft beer and you’ll love this casual and fun dining experience.
6. Vig’s
For a fun spot with great vibes, you’ll love Vig’s. This fine-dining Indian restaurant is serving up amazing food including the Vegetarian Thali plate with tons of great things to split. Also, their marinated paneer and samosas are super delicious to try!
7. Go Fish
Located close to Granville Island, this little stand is a great place to try some fish and chips. Enjoy breaded cod, salmon, or halibut paired with tasty chips and a cup of fresh soup for a soul-warming lunch in Vancouver.
8. St Lawrence Restaurant
Want a delicious Michelin-star restaurant with an incredible tasting menu? You’re going to want to splurge a little at St Lawrence Restaurant. This French-Quebecois restaurant is serving up some tasty creations that you can pair with delicious wine or craft cocktails.
9. Luppolo Brewing Company
Vancouver is well-known for its great craft beer scene, so I had to include a couple of places to grab a great brew. Luppolo Brewing Company makes some deliciously fresh beers including their Tart Wild Ale, Hazy IPAs, and even their Italian Pilsner.
10. Strange Fellows Brewing
Another fantastic brewery, you can taste some delightful creations like the Talisman West Coast Pale Ale, Blackmail Stout, Woodland Farmhouse Cider, or their Guardian Hazy IPA.
Getting To Vancouver For Your Honeymoon
Getting to Vancouver is easy thanks to its large international airport. You can snag flights to Vancouver with airlines like Air Canada, Air France, ANA, Delta, American Airlines, British Airways, United Airlines, and even Canada’s discount airline, WestJet.
I like to check airline prices on Skyscanner!
And if you’re coming from elsewhere in British Columbia or in the Pacific Northwest, you can certainly drive here if you wish.
Lastly, if you’re coming from Seattle or Portland, you can even take the train.
The Amtrak Cascades goes from Eugene, Oregon all the way up to Vancouver, BC, making stops along the way in places like Portland and Seattle.
It is about an 8-hour train ride from Portland to Vancouver and 4 hours from Seattle.
How to Get Around Vancouver
Luckily, once you’re in Vancouver, it is fairly easy to get around. You can walk around many parts of the city if you like! But if you want to go to places like Granville Island, you can even take the adorable Aquabus that crosses over False Creek.
There are also buses, the Skytrain, and even a public bikeshare called Mobi.
On top of that, you can use Uber to get around as well.
If you want to get out of the city like on day trips and such, you may want to consider renting a car. I like to check prices on Skyscanner for the best deals.
However, if you don’t want to drive, there are ample day trip options available to places like Whistler, Vancouver Island, etc.
When Is the Best Time to Honeymoon in Vancouver Canada
May through September is a great time to go on a Vancouver honeymoon! This time of year sees more mild temperatures and weather. And around July, August, and September, there are even better chances of fewer clouds and warmer days.
The winter isn’t a bad time to visit, it is just that it is cooler and rainier than other times of the year, making wandering around the city a little less enjoyable.
Plus, the prime time for whale watching is April through October, so you’ll want to visit during that time if that is something you want to do.
However, regardless of when you visit, it is smart to pack things like an umbrella, raincoat, etc. It can be chilly even in the summertime.
Also, be sure to bring comfortable shoes for walking around the city. I love my Adidas shoes, but you can wear some waterproof cute boots in the winter months too.
Is a Vancouver Honeymoon a Good Idea?
Absolutely! I highly recommend a Vancouver honeymoon for couples who love the idea of exploring a big city as well as the surrounding nature. If you love mountains, a chance to spot great wildlife nearby, whale watching, great food, and the Pacific Northwest in general, chances are you’re going to fall in love with Vancouver during your honeymoon!
