St Lucia Trip Cost Factors:
Keep in mind that there are a couple of budget factors when planning your dream getaway to Saint Lucia.
- Time of Year: This is going to make the biggest difference in your St Lucia budget. If you travel during the busier times of year (namely the months of December through April), you’ll likely see higher prices at hotels and even with flights. This is because it is a popular time to visit as it is the drier season and people up north are escaping the winter.
- Things are a little expensive: I’m warning you now that Saint Lucia is fully aware that this is a honeymoon hotspot, so things are sometimes a little more expensive than other budget-friendly destinations for travelers. It isn’t too bad, but just something to keep in mind.
- Sometimes, all-inclusives can be worth it: Some resorts charge a premium for food and drinks, so booking an all-inclusive package at those places may be a good idea to get your money’s worth!
Now that we’ve discussed some trip cost factors, here are some things to consider for your St Lucia vacation.
Getting There: How Much Are Flights to Saint Lucia?
First and foremost, you have to get to Saint Lucia. And pretty much the main way to do that (aside from coming in via cruise ship) is through flying.
Flights round-trip to Saint Lucia’s main airport, UVF, can vary considerably based on the time of year you book, where you’re flying from, etc. However, I did notice that when we were booking it was best to book sooner rather than later.
Also, it helps to set price alerts on Skyscanner and book when prices drop! It was about $773 per person round-trip from Cleveland to Saint Lucia for us.
For flights from most cities, you can expect to pay between $500-900 per person round-trip.
Yes, it can be a bit more expensive because there aren’t tons of flights going in and out of Saint Lucia each day. And if you plan to upgrade to business or first, definitely plan to double those prices in your budget.
Cost of Flights to Saint Lucia: Between $500-900 per person, or $1,000-1,800 per couple. For more premium seats, expect to pay between $2,000+ per person or $4,000+ per couple.
St Lucia Cost of Travel: Hotels
Next up on the St Lucia trip cost list are hotels. This can vary quite a bit as well depending on if you’re staying at a smaller hotel, resort, or even an all-inclusive resort.
For example, if you’re on a budget, then a place like Apartment Espoir in Castries near the beach can be under $100 per night depending on when you go! So you can expect to pay closer to $700 for a week-long trip.
For a mid-range place like Stonefield Villa Resort in Soufriere, it can run about $380 per night, or $2,660 per week. Or, if you upgrade to the all-inclusive plan, which includes your villa (with a private plunge pool), all meals, and drinks, it is closer to $872 per night with taxes and fees, or $6,104 for a week.
Lastly, for a more premium resort like Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort, you can expect to pay about $1,200 per night, not including an all-inclusive plan. And if you want a luxury adults-only, couples-only all-inclusive resort, Serenity at Coconut Bay will set you back about $1,380 per night.
Cost of Resorts in Saint Lucia: For budget travelers staying at a budget hotel, you can expect to pay around $100 per night, or $700 for a week.
For mid-range travelers, it will cost around $380-872 per night, or $2,660-6,104 for a week. The more expensive option is all-inclusive.
For luxury travelers, plan to spend at least $1,200-1,380 per night, or $8,400-9,660 for the week.
How Much Do Activities Cost in Saint Lucia?
Honestly, you could just sit at your all-inclusive resort, enjoy the free amenities, and chill on the beach for a week and not pay anything extra for your time in Saint Lucia.
But, if you want to get out and explore the island, you may want to budget for a couple of day trips and/or excursions like snorkeling, hiking, etc.
During our trip to Saint Lucia, we ended up booking two excursions. We booked a hiking tour of Gros Piton and a tour of Sulphur Springs and the nearby waterfalls. The Gros Piton hike was $216 for the two of us, and the Sulphur Springs and waterfall tour was $130 for the two of us.
For other popular tours like a snorkeling trip or a sunset cruise, it is about $75 per person.
I recommend choosing 2-3 tours during your time in Saint Lucia if you’re staying for a week and like to get off the resort as well as spend time relaxing.
Activity Costs in Saint Lucia: This could be anywhere from $0 if you don’t leave the resort and take advantage of the all-included amenities to upwards of $500+ for a couple ($250 per person) if you book a few tours.
St Lucia Prices for Food & Drinks:
If you are staying at an all-inclusive, then you may not be paying anything for food and drinks after you pay for your hotel. It is one of the best parts about staying at a fully-included resort.
I’ll be honest in that we didn’t spend much money on food and drinks during our time in Saint Lucia as we booked the all-inclusive plan at Stonefield Villa Resort and stayed at Serenity at Coconut Bay, which is all-inclusive.
However, if you choose to not stay at an all-inclusive, food and drink prices can add up quickly, especially if you’re staying at a resort. Lunches can cost upwards of $25-35 per person and dinners can quickly get up to $40-50 per person. If you get drinks, then plan on the higher end of those costs.
Even breakfast can cost around $12-15 per person.
That being said, you can certainly head to a grocery store and cook some meals if you’re staying at a place with a kitchen. Or, you could find more local places in Castries or Soufriere with cheaper prices. Then, you can probably pay around $40 per person, per day if you eat out a little at cheaper restaurants and have a beer or two.
Cost of Food and Drinks: $0 if included in your all-inclusive plan. For those on a budget, expect to pay around $40 per person, per day, or $80 per day for a couple. This adds up to $560 for the week.
And for those dining at a resort, it is closer to $75-100 per person, per day, or $150-200 for a couple. This adds up to $1,050-$1,400 for a week-long trip.
Getting Around Saint Lucia Costs:
Again, if you’re staying at an all-inclusive resort, this may be included. If that is the case, then, again, this isn’t extra.
If you don’t have this included, it can add up quickly if you’re traveling across the island to your resort and back. This could cost $75-90 each way depending on where you’re coming from.
You also can rent a car while on the island as well. I don’t really recommend this, especially if you’re planning to stay on the resort and take a couple of day trips. But, if you really want to get out and about, you can expect to pay around $40-50 per day for a rental car.
I like checking Skyscanner for deals! Just bear in mind that this does not include gas and parking, depending on where you go.
Saint Lucia Transportation Costs: $0 if included at your all-inclusive resort. $150-180 for a round-trip to the airport.
And if you rent a car, it is closer to $280-350 for the week excluding parking and gas.
Extra Things to Budget For Your Trip to Saint Lucia
There are a few extra things that you’ll want to include in your Saint Lucia trip budget, and they may vary depending on what you do. In general, unless if you have a specific thing you want to include in your budget, I would add about $100 per person for extra things for Saint Lucia.
Some of these things include souvenirs, tipping (depending if included or not), laundry, etc.
Travel Insurance
This is always a good idea while traveling. We usually go with World Nomads.
For a week, this is about $84 (this may vary depending on your age and where you live) per person. So you may pay about $168 for a couple for a week.
So…How Much Does a St Lucia Trip Cost?
Okay, I’ve broken down the budget for a lot of different options for Saint Lucia. Now, as this is a popular honeymoon destination, and a popular all-inclusive resort destination, I’m going to give you a budget based on whether you choose all-inclusive or not.
Cost of Staying at an All-Inclusive Resort in Saint Lucia:
Okay, if you plan to stay at an all-inclusive resort, this will cost around $8,000 for a couple who stays at a mid-range resort with an all-inclusive package like at Stonefield, doesn’t do any additional meals or activities and has fairly inexpensive flights down to Saint Lucia.
On the more luxurious end, and if you choose to perhaps do a few activities, plan to spend closer to $12,000 for a couple.
Cost of Staying in Saint Lucia Without an All-Inclusive Package:
For budget travelers, the cost of a week-long trip to Saint Lucia without an all-inclusive package is around $2,000 for a single person or $3,200 for a couple if you don’t do any extra activities, have a lower food budget, and stay at a budget hotel.
For mid-range travelers, if you choose to do some activities, plan for around $4,650 for a single person, or $6,500 for a couple for a week-long trip budget for Saint Lucia.
And for luxury travelers, this could cost upwards of $12,000+ for a single traveler, or $15,000+ for a couple.
How Much Did We Pay For Our Trip to Saint Lucia?
Okay, at the end of every one of our trip budget guides, we like to be fully transparent with you and share how much we ended up spending.
For this trip, we ended up using our Capital One Venture X points to cover the cost of flights, meaning we didn’t pay any cash for our flights round-trip to Saint Lucia. And, as we only spent 5 nights in Saint Lucia (3 nights at Stonefield and 2 nights at Serenity at Coconut Bay), our cost for hotels was $4,581.
Then, we did a couple of tours including the Gros Piton hike and Sulphur Springs tour, and also spent money on a couple of drinks on the beach at another hotel, a couple of taxi rides, some souvenirs, tips, and a couples massage.
We also didn’t pay for any food as we did the all-inclusive plan at Stonefield and Serenity at Coconut Bay is all-inclusive.
So our total ended up being right around $5,583 for a 5-night stay in Saint Lucia!
Note that this was in January of 2023. Adjusting for price changes, our cost today would have been closer to $6,340.
