It’s getting closer to Christmas and with everyone rushing around to find the perfect gifts, I couldn’t be gladder to actually have finished earlier this month. Trust me, most of the time it’s chaos until the end. I’m even happier about the fact that I gained over 2,000 miles via shopping online! And no, I definitely did not spend $2,000 to do it. After wedding deposits this month, I’ve been keeping Christmas light. But I want to show you just how I did it, so you can rack up those miles too! Because why not gift yourself with miles towards your honeymoon? Here’s the site to go to for Christmas shopping travel hacking:
Chase Ultimate Rewards
It’s no secret that I love Chase Ultimate Rewards. For starters, it transfers to multiple airlines (British Airways, Korean Air, Singapore Airlines, Southwest, United, Virgin Atlantic, and Air France/KLM), hotels (Hyatt, IHG, Marriot, and Ritz-Carlton), or you can even opt for cash back… but let’s be real: travel is the main goal here. I also love Chase Ultimate Rewards because they have a shopping portal where you can find which store you’d like to shop online at, it’ll tell you the points per dollar you can earn, and you click shop and start shopping to your heart’s content. All you need is a Chase Ultimate Rewards card like the Chase Sapphire Preferred to get started!
Here’s how it’s done:
Step 1: Sign in to your Chase account like normal. Then, find Chase Ultimate Rewards.
Step 2: Click that. Then choose whichever card is under that (I have Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Freedom), and click on that.
Step 3: This will lead you to your Chase Ultimate Rewards Dashboard. Scroll down past your points breakdown until you see “Shop Through Chase.” It’ll show various stores, but click “See More Stores”.
Step 4: Search for your favorite store, and if it’s on there it’ll pop up. See how many extra points you’ll get, and click “Shop Now”.
Step 5: It’ll lead you to a site explaining the bonus earn and that you can shop like normal on the store’s site once you hit the Shop at X store button.
Step 6: Click the button, and shop as you normally would.
Step 7: Watch those miles add up within a few days! Yay to Christmas shopping travel hacking!

This means that while some people are earning 1 mile per dollar spent on Macy’s online store, you’re earning 10 miles per dollar. That’s right. I decided to purchase some gifts for friends and ended up racking in about 350 miles just through Macy’s.
I went to buy a $25 gift card for someone and saw that Gift Certificates offered 3 miles per dollar, earning me 75 miles. And Groupon? I earned 8 miles per dollar! And last but not least, my favorite shop on Ultimate Rewards, Wine, where I purchased some wine for the holidays and earned 4 miles per dollar. They even had some Pinotage we had in South Africa! Needless to say, with all of this shopping, I earned 2,000 miles easily. Now, before I think about shopping online, I go straight to Ultimate Rewards to see if they have the store I’m going to shop at and earn extra miles.
They have so several stores on their portal including: Home Depot, Gilt, Kohl’s, Walmart, Sephora, Under Armor, Microsoft, and so much more! It pretty much has Christmas covered, and maybe your honeymoon too.
What will you do with your Chase Ultimate Rewards miles? Possibly fly business class somewhere? What about Paris in spring with Air France? We used ours toward our honeymoon in Southeast Asia with United. The choices are limitless! Let me know in the comments! And proceed to Christmas shopping travel hacking today!

I just finished all my shopping and I'm so sad I didn't know this. I know how I will be shopping for next year's Christmas gifts & all birthdays/anniversaries between!
